Reimagining the iconic Cassie hit, ABISHA and Movada have joined forces for their brand new single ‘Me & U’, out today.

The creative chemistry between the two artists is undeniably evident, as they inject a fresh garage-infused flavor to the well loved earworm chorus. As ABISHA’s crystal clear vocals take centre stage, the track’s R&B and dance elements combine perfectly to create a sound that is sure to become a summer soundtrack staple.

Already big fans of the original track, ABISHA and Movada have added their own flair to the classic hit, adding a faster tempo, deep, catchy bassline, and new lyrics about yearning for a love interest “Cos when all the lights go out / You're all I think about / I don't wanna wait no longer”.

“Noel (Movada) and I had already been in the studio together a couple of times before we wrote Me & U so we already had a great energy and dynamic together, I love working with him. When he sent me the initial idea for Me & U I said yes immediately, I’m a massive Cassie fan (who isn’t) and am obsessed with the original so it was a no-brainer. I’m honoured that he wanted my vocals on it! We had so much fun making the track and I can’t wait to share it with the world. I hope everyone loves it as much as we do! It’s a feel-good summer tune so I hope it gets people dancing!” - ABISHA

“I first came across Abisha last year when I heard her song Time Alone. I showed her profile to my manager because I loved her vocals, they reminded me of Aaliyah. I reached out and asked if she wanted to work on some music in the studio. Her musical style had a great RnB / Garage feel to it and it worked well with my style of mixing R&B and dance. The first song we wrote was ‘All Night Long’. We literally wrote it as an R&B slow jam, and then sped it up to make a dance track, it sounded great. I have always loved Cassie from back in the day, so I remixed the song Me & U into a UK Garage throwback. I played the song to Abisha and she recorded a vocal to it and it sounded great straight away. It’s been great working with Abisha, we really captured a spark in the music and we hope you vibe to it like we did.” - Movada

About ABISHA:

Fast rising artist ABISHA refuses to be boxed into just one genre, with each release displaying a new side to her limitless talent. Since arriving on the scene in 2017, the Spindle Music signee has seen a wealth of tastemaker praise from i-D, DAZED, Notion, Billboard, COLORSXSTUDIOS, Clash, The Independent, Complex, The Line of Best Fit, NYLON, Gay Times and many more. Marrying up her enthusiasm for art, fashion, and music, ABISHA has also worked with top brands from ASOS, PUMA, and Rimmel.

With a sophisticated yet soulful vocal presence, ABISHA’s confidence follows from overcoming profound insecurity, a journey closely tied to coming of age as a gay person of color in her homeland of Devon. Imbued with both raw sensitivity and understated power, ABISHA’s music intimately documents her transformation through the years - and ultimately speaks to the urgency of representation, and the radical beauty of self-acceptance. “Growing up black and gay in a place that’s largely white and where I didn’t know of anyone else who was queer, I had this feeling of being different for most of my life,” ABISHA confesses. “There wasn’t anyone around for me to identify with, and there weren’t even many popular queer artists back then - so for a long time I wanted so badly to be what I thought was normal. Now that I’m discovering who I am as an artist, I’m also discovering who I am as a person, and I’ve finally gotten to a place where I’m happy to stand out and express myself every way I can.” To that end, ABISHA continues exploring ways to use her music, visuals, and singular fashion sense to fully embrace what sets her apart.

Her debut single ‘All That’ launched strong in 2017 via tastemaker brand and magazine Highsnobiety. ABISHA’s signature electronic-pop tinged R&B sound has since gone on to land her several DSP playlists including Amazon’s Proud, Apple's Best of the Week, Spotify's New Music Friday UK amongst others. Through each of her projects, ABISHA aims to share more parts of herself, helping listeners come out of the darkness and ultimately love themselves.
