Today - 4th October - Singer-Songwriter-Producer Maverick Sabre unveils his latest single, "Lay Down On Me," the third release from his highly anticipated album Burn The Right Things Down, set to drop on October 18th via FAMM. Produced by Zach Nahome (known for his work with Bakar, Biig Piig, and PinkPantheress), "Lay Down On Me" explores the deep emotional connection between two people, bound together by their shared feelings, finding comfort in each other's presence. The lyrics “Just lay down on me, cause I’ll never go” and “Still a part of you is holding me and part of me is holding on for you” perfectly capture the pull between the two. Accompanying the single is a beautiful black-and-white music video featuring Maverick performing with his band outdoors, interspersed with striking imagery of intertwined hands and flickers of fire. Burn The Right Things Down continues to take shape and was sparked by a sudden and intense sense of urgency—a brush with existentialism. It wasn’t triggered by a particular loss but rather a profound realisation that change was necessary. Mav decided to step back from London and immerse himself in crafting music that resonated with his vision. Embracing the notion that tomorrow isn't promised, he allowed this newfound perspective to drive his creative process.
Born in Stoke Newington, Mav moved to Ireland when he was four, spending his formative years in County Wexford before returning to London when he was seventeen. Raised on a rich musical diet of Blues, Folk, and Country passed down from his father, he developed an early and unshakable passion for music. This love evolved as he dove into the Irish Hip-Hop scene as a young teen, quickly gaining recognition as both an MC and a producer, crafting beats throughout his adolescence. Over the years, his sound has evolved into a distinctive fusion of his diverse influences, drawing further inspiration from trailblazers like The Stone Roses, The Beatles, Tupac, Cymande, 9th Wonder, DJ Premier and Nas. In today's music landscape, few can claim a career spanning over a decade, but Irish singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Maverick Sabre stands among them. With four albums under his belt and collaborations with artists like George The Poet, Ghetts, Nia Archives, Joey Bada$$, Chronixx, Jorja Smith, Nile Rogers, Vintage Culture and Chase & Status, to name a few, Sabre has kept himself busy.
Over the coming months, Mav will bring Burn The Right Things Down to life with special performances in unique settings. He'll kick things off with his Live To Vinyl event at the legendary Metropolis Studios in West London, where he'll record the album in a single take, pressed live to vinyl in front of an intimate audience of just 30 people—capturing the magic in real-time. Following this, Mav will embark on a four-date tour at Rough Trade venues, hitting Liverpool, Bristol, and Nottingham, before wrapping up at Earth in Hackney in October (dates below).
Rough Trade Tour Dates:
19th October - Rough Trade Liverpool

Lyrics:
When your arms can’t seem to hold the weight
And your heart can’t feel another day
I’ll follow you there
Cause still a part of you is holding me
And a part of me is holding on for you
So just lay down on me
When nobody knows
Just lay down on me
Cause I’ll never go
Settle in and let it out
I promise
I don’t want you heavy now
On my conscience
If It’s on your mind just say
And I’ll warm you
I can never stop the rain
But I want to
Still a part of you is holding me
And part of me is holding on for you
So just lay down on me
When nobody knows
Just lay down on me
Cause I’ll never go
So just lay down on me
When nobody knows
Just lay down on me
Cause I’ll never go
Lay down on me
Nobody knows
Lay down on me
Nobody knows
Nobody knows
