(Lagos, Nigeria – August 29, 2024) – Today, award-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter Fireboy DML released his most personal and reflective fourth studio album to date with self-titled effort adedamola. The 14-track project marks a significant chapter in Fireboy’s career, showcasing his evolution as an artist and an individual. The album boasts collaborations with an array of talent, including fellow Nigerian artists Lojay, Lagbaja, Seun Kuti and DJ SPINALL, as well as a second record with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jon Batiste. 

With “adedamola”, Fireboy DML continues to push musical boundaries, delivering a vibrant, reflective and celebratory body of work that delves into themes of love and loss, with love in its many forms serving as a central focus. Most recently, Fireboy DML co-starred in the music video for “Uptown Disco” alongside fellow YBNL Nation label members, Olamide and Asake. This followed the release of the acoustic live session of his first single of 2024, "Everyday," and the accompanying heartfelt music video. As the Summer cover star of Office Magazine and with an impressive total of over 3 billion streams, Fireboy was listed on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 List after his debut at Coachella this year, 

where he delivered electric surprise performances alongside continued collaborators DJ SPINALL and Jon Batiste. Fireboy continues to set the music world ablaze, garnering over 300 million streams on Spotify in 2024, and recently sat down with Rolling Stone and Billboard to detail his experience and trajectory as an artist.

ABOUT FIREBOY DML: 

Dubbed the ‘future’ of Afrobeats, Fireboy DML first emerged on the Nigerian music scene in 2019 with the re-release of his breakout single “Jealous” which was originally a part of YBNL’s 2018 collaborative album, YBNL Mafia Family. On June 14, 2019, he followed up “Jealous” with the explosive romantic number “What If I Say” and later that year, on the 29th of November released his debut album, Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps. His newest album, Playboy, sees the sensual, sweet-natured artist shift gears into a confident, self-possessed bad boy persona resulting in a Pitchfork review of the album, which got a 7.4 rating. He has been nominated for a number of awards including the Best International Act award at the 2022 BET Awards, where he became the first Nigerian artist to perform on the BET stage and the NAACP Image Awards in 2021, amongst others.
