South East London vocalist KC Clarke delivers his debut EP Myriad Dreams – released via Scorpion Music.
Equal parts tender and self-assured, KC Clarke’s intoxicating artistry is on full display across Myriad Dreams. Merging nostalgic R&B and his own mellow-wave flavour, the 5-track EP perfectly encapsulates the endless chase for true love and intimacy, as psychedelic textures playfully flirt with KC’s dream-like cadence to create a spellbinding body of work. An electric synergy that feels as beautiful as it is meaningful, the rising artist’s exploration of passion and vulnerability will set him as one of the most exciting R&B talents emerging across London and beyond.
Setting an intimate tone from the start with “No Romance”, KC Clarke effortlessly glides across potent basslines and rolling percussion, delivering smooth vocal melodies as he battles the thrilling temptations when getting close to an exciting love interest – a complex space that leaves his affinities questioning whether it’s love or lust.
Moving through hazy sessions of “With You”, we reach the apex of KC’s diverse musical makeup with “SPACESHIPS”, laced with warm, funk-infused sounds that open pockets for his stunning falsetto to shine front and centre. Backed by a high-calibre music video following two lovers on a journey across South Africa, the colourful vibrations burst to life with intimate car rides and vibrant open fields; depicting the shifting patterns of a new relationship and the blossoming connection that takes control.
Standout collab “Trenches”, which taps fellow London star Joey XL sees both artists on superior form, trading infectious harmonies before the record closes out with “You Want More” – a textured slow jam produced by fwdslxsh (Central Cee, Doja Cat, 6LACK) that adds a vintage gloss to what stands as a highly significant release for the rising star.
Touching on his artistic evolution, KC Clarke mentions: “In the past when I was in a group, I was always talking about braggadocious and generic things, which is cool, but this EP was a chance for me to really express myself in my truest form without caring for anyone else’s opinion. Each song has a different vibe but they all come together sonically like a melodic dream.”
He adds: “My message is peace of mind, that’s all I yearn for, and my music brings me that. It’s a way for me to release my emotions and feelings which put me at ease. Limitless thinking & attitude towards life is also a message I want to spread because I’ve always felt like I’ve been in a box from the environment I was raised in. I was different from everyone else and I used to hold back. But now I’ve realised the more I let go and be free, the more I enjoy this life. I want to inspire all races and sexes, especially young men who have been raised around a stereotypical stigma that you have to always bottle it up and move on. It's cool to express yourself in any way you feel, and I want young brothers to understand that this is how we find peace.”
Born to creative parents in the diverse spaces of South East London, KC Clarke quickly developed a passion for music as his artistic environment began to take shape. Exposed to the iconic sounds of Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Miles Davis and Bob Marley while balancing inner-city pressures from an early age allowed him to channel his expression through music, ultimately inspiring his pursuit of the creative arts.
KC Clarke first crashed into the ether as part of the highly acclaimed South London collective Last Night In Paris – a DIY ensemble of rappers, singers and filmmakers who spearheaded the underground with incendiary sounds and an unapologetically raw aesthetic. Gaining global attention from THE GUARDIAN and DAZED to HIGHSNOBIETY and OFFICE, KC would later walk for Maharishi at London Fashion Week and deliver major performances across Glastonbury, Wireless and Soulection to name a few.
Now continuing his exciting solo trajectory with a more authentic, true-to-self approach, KC featured across Joey XL’s stunning 2020 single “Friday Night” (1M+ streams), a breakthrough moment which led to the release of KC Clarke’s wonderfully high-calibre debut “Neighbours” in 2022 – solidifying his growing presence as one of the city’s brightest new voices in the making.
Already championed by key tastemakers incl. WONDERLAND and VIPER MAGAZINE, 2024 looks set to be a breakthrough year for this grippingly unique talent fast on the rise.
